Ocean County Recreation League (OCRL) – Fall & Spring Recreation Soccer
Berkeley Soccer Association's Ocean County Recreation League (OCRL) program provides a fun, instructional, and community-focused soccer experience for players of all skill levels. Our recreation program is designed to help players develop soccer skills, build confidence, learn teamwork, and foster a lifelong love of the game in a positive and supportive environment.
The OCRL season is offered during both the Fall and Spring and typically consists of approximately 10 weeks of games and activities. Games are generally played on Saturdays, with schedules determined by the league each season. Home games are played at the Eastern Soccer Complex, located at 560 Eastern Boulevard, Bayville, NJ, while away games may be held at various locations throughout Ocean County.
School-Year Age Groups
Beginning with the 2026-2027 seasonal year, Berkeley Soccer Association and OCRL will utilize the new school-year age format.
Eligible players include:
- U6: August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2021
- U7: August 1, 2019 – July 31, 2020
- U8: August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019
- U9: August 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018
- U10: August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2017
- U11: August 1, 2015 – July 31, 2016
- U12: August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015
Players are placed into the appropriate division based on their birth date. Team formation is dependent upon registration numbers and volunteer coach availability. If there are not enough players to form a team within a specific age group, families may be offered an alternative placement when available or receive a full refund.
Volunteer Coaches
Every OCRL team is led by a volunteer coach. No previous soccer or coaching experience is required. Berkeley Soccer Association provides support, resources, and guidance to help coaches create a positive experience for their players.
Parents interested in coaching are encouraged to select the Volunteer option during registration. A BSA representative will contact you with additional information.
Our recreation program depends on the dedication of parent volunteers, and we are always grateful for those willing to help make the season a success.
Practices
Practice schedules are determined by the volunteer coach and are based on field availability and field conditions. Practice days, times, and locations may vary from team to team.
Once official rosters are finalized, coaches will contact families to introduce themselves, schedule a team meeting, and provide information regarding practices, team communication, and season expectations.
While BSA considers coach availability when assigning practice fields, we cannot guarantee specific practice days or times. Registration fees are non-refundable due to practice scheduling conflicts.
Team Formation & Player Requests
Whenever possible, players will remain with the same team from the Fall season through the following Spring season, provided the coach returns and the player registers by the required deadline. Depending on registration numbers and volunteer availability, teams may be adjusted or newly formed from season to season.
Families may submit requests for teammates, coaches, or practice considerations during registration. While every effort is made to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be fulfilled.
